As the organizer of this, it is rather unfortunate that I’ve not yet finished even one book on the year. With trying to find a new job, writing, trying to start a business, and so, so many video games, I’ve just not found myself lost in a book yet. My reading ebbs and flows, however.
If you’re new here and scrolled back, you’ll have noticed that I used to write a lot about beer when I first started this up. I’m in the process of trying to open a specialty beer store which would be a dream for me. It is rather daunting, but the thrill is too much to let pass me by. This Tuesday, the 22nd, I turn 28 and am driving to Portland to meet some people in beer businesses down there, as well as participate in Tap It Tuesday at Cascade Brewery. I get to pound a tap into a live barrel of beer. It will spray beer everywhere, be a ridiculous show, and be a ton of fun.
Best of all, they broadcast it live over their G+ hangout. Feel free to tune in.
Of course, that means another night of not getting any reading done. Then include probably the coolest birthday present I’ve ever gotten, and I’m betting I’ll be cutting it close to finish a first book by next week. What is the present, you ask? Oh, only the LEGO Star Wars Death Star. I’ve definitely sat around all day building LEGO and watching cartoon network. Not even an ounce of shame in that.
Where’s everyone else stand on meeting their goals? Anyone have any real standout reads they’d like to suggest to others? Throw it in the comments and get some discussion going. Also, if you see any mistakes, please inform me. This is a lot of data for me to attempt to organize by hand and I am but one man.

Happy early Birthday!! Hope it’s a blast! I am so jealous that you got a Lego Death Star. If they weren’t so damn expensive I would get one for myself.
I’ve been reading the Wheel of Time series and it has been awesome. I think I am starting to get a little burned out on it though. I’m on Book 9 and it has been a struggle to stay motivated enough to keep with it. I am excited to get to the Sanderson books though, and I’m super excited to get to the final book, which I’ve only heard good things about so far. If anyone here has read A Memory of Light I’d love to hear what you think of it. It might help motivate me to get through books 9-11!
The only other book I’ve read so far this year was Ready Player One and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who grew up in the 80s. I loved it and have been trying to get everyone I know to read it (with no luck yet).
Ready Player One was easily my favorite book of last year. Absolutely an amazing read.
Hi! I just finished A Memory of Light last week and I have to say it really made the slog through the last few books worth it with a very exciting and heartfelt conclusion (I will say this, book 10 is absolutely horrible and I feel sorry for when you get to it but it does pick up again quite a bit in book 11).
A really good book for anyone looking to get a little freaked out is Penpal.

It was written by a fellow redditor in the r/nosleep subreddit, who then got it published through kickstarter. It is very interesting and I had a hard time putting it down when I started to get to the meat of the story.
